STEP 01

Panels go up

Three lightweight PV panels for a 100l–150l geyser, or four for a 200l geyser — mounted on your roof and wired straight to the controller. No trenching, no pipework.

STEP 02

The controller takes over

Our MPPT controller feeds your geyser from two sources at once — sunlight by day, grid power on standby. Nothing inside the tank gets swapped out.

STEP 03

You take control

Pair the app over WiFi to see live tank temperature, set boost schedules, and switch to Eskom from anywhere — shared with the whole household.

Under the hood

Two power sources, no batteries

The controller feeds your geyser from both grid (AC) power and solar (DC) power at the same time — there's no backup battery involved. Whenever the sun is out, solar power goes straight into the geyser and is effectively stored as heat in the tank itself.

Crucially, the controller never sends raw DC into your element. It converts solar power into a modified waveform that your geyser's existing thermostat and element already know how to switch on and off, exactly as they would with normal AC power. That's why nothing inside the tank needs to be replaced — the geyser genuinely can't tell the difference.

Every Apex controller uses MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) to pull as much usable power out of your panels as possible, constantly adjusting to current weather and light conditions rather than taking a fixed amount regardless of how much sun is actually available.
